“I want my children to learn that life is bigger than our house, our street, our town. Those teaching moments come in all shapes and sizes.”
It’s natural to put “big things” off (i.e., the trip to Europe) in order to handle daily responsibilities (i.e., soccer practice). In Alex’s book, that doesn’t mean postponing the creation of memories. “I believe in making the most of the here, the now – turning the events that bubble up in our lives into moments my children will always remember.”
Perhaps that is why Alex puts such emphasis on “being present.” “When you go into a client meeting with humility and openness, what you take away is what’s different, what’s real. Then, you can do a great job for that client.”
